7 Nail Polish Shades You Need This Fall

By Kristen Peuvion on October 15, 2014

If you really love all things fashion, then you know that your nail color is just as important as anything else you’re wearing.

It’s an accessory all on its own and can either enhance your outfit and take it to the next level, or completely clash with what you’re wearing and take away from how fashion-forward you really are.

Your nail polish can make or break your entire reputation of being known as a fashionista!

Ok, so I’m being a little over the top with that last one …

But in all honesty, nail polish really can impact your entire look, so it’s an important accessory in the fashion world.

Think about it: people always see your hands, whether you’re giving them a handshake, waving at them or just sitting down at a table. So no one is going to want to look at a set of nails with an offensive color on them or a color that is completely out of season.

That being said, here are seven must-have nail polish colors for this fall.

1) The Perfectly Matching Nude

This isn’t a shade necessarily specific to the fall because nude looks good any time of the year. There also isn’t a universal nude shade that magically works for everyone.

So if you don’t already have a nude nail polish that matches your skin tone to a T, then this fall is the perfect time to invest! A nude shade that matches your skin perfectly will make your nails and hands look perfectly manicured and sleek.

It might take some searching to find your perfect shade, but nearly every brand of nail polish sells various nude shades. Be persistent and you’ll find just what you’re looking for.

2) Essie’s After School Boy Blazer

Essie’s After School Boy Blazer is the perfect shade of blue for the fall. The darkness of it will look great against all of the nude colors that dominate everyone’s fall wardrobes.

If you’re not into super dark nail polish, don’t worry about it! This shade is the perfect mix of dark and bright, so it will still pop against your nude clothes, but it’ll do so in a more subtle way than other brighter shades of blue.

3) OPI Nail Lacquer in Rich Chocolate

This shade is great for fall because it’s a little mix of a couple fall colors that we all love.

When you hear the name Rich Chocolate, you’re thinking this color will probably look like a Hershey’s kiss, but while this color is brown, wearing this shade won’t make you look like you just accidentally forgot to wash your hands after eating a candy bar.

The reason for that is because this shade isn’t just brown, there’s a purple tint to this color giving the polish more depth than a simpler shade.

4) China Glaze Tongue and Chic

Turquoise may not seem like a super obvious choice for fall since it is brighter, but just because it’s the fall and the weather is a little more drab than it is in the summer doesn’t mean your nails have to match that.

Super dark, somewhat boring nail colors are usually associated with the fall, but China Glaze’s Tongue and Chic turquoise color is a breath of fresh air from your typical darker nail polishes.

It’s still dark, but a bit more exciting and it is just what you need on your fingers in the upcoming months.

5) Essie’s Master Plan

Gray is one of my favorites for fall, and Essie’s Master Plan is the perfect shade. In fact, I love it so much that I’m wearing it now!

There’s something about the color gray that just goes with fall. Maybe it’s because the weather is so gloomy or perhaps because the color gray just seems to coincide with the falling temperatures?

But don’t be fooled, this nail color is anything but gloomy or cold. There are hints of blue and purple in Essie’s Master Plan that keep the color fun, not boring and unhappy.

6) China Glaze’s Unpredictable

Another way to shy away from all of the dark nail colors that are typically associated with fall is by choosing a metallic nail color. Think of metallics as fall’s way of having a little fun.

After all, in the summer people wear basically any and all fun colors you could imagine. China Glaze’s Unpredictable nail polish is a darker metallic shade, but it incorporates both blues and neutral tones so it is sure to go with just about anything you’re wearing this fall.

7) Butter London’s La Moss

Red nail polish will always be a classic, no matter what the season is.

For this fall, though, why not try out something a little different from the classic cherry red shade we know and love? Butter London’s La Moss is a blood red shade that will instantly add drama and classiness to any fall look.

Nail polish is an instant way to take your fashionable look to the next level, so don’t ignore your hands, ladies! The right nail color is just what you need to perfect your outfit and these seven shades are the must-have colors you’ll be wanting this fall.
