A Cornell freshman was assigned a video project in which students were asked to depict a “transformation.” The fine arts major from New Jersey chose her move to college and the challenge of finding new friends. The results resonated with a lot of people.

The Cornell Sun reports, “Bergmann spent her first week on campus observing hordes of freshmen migrating to Collegetown parties, dining halls or relaxing in the dormitories in large groups. She told The Sun she felt frustrated, lonely and isolated from the large amoebas of students.”

Here’s the video she created, which has been viewed over 85,000 times:

New info on Niger ambush revealed by top US general

Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford Jr. speaks to the media (Image: YouTube Screenshot/CNN)

Four US and five Nigerian soldiers were killed and two Americans wounded in an attack in Niger on October 4. Details have remained unclear and controversy over Trump’s handling of the situation have abounded.

CNN reports, “The US troops attacked in Niger were on their way back to their operating base when they were ambushed by 50 ISIS fighters, according to Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford, who provided a timeline of the attack on Monday.”

Dunford added that the US troops requested additional backup about an hour after the initial attack. Remotely piloted aircraft came a few minutes after their request. But questions still linger as the military investigation continues.

Canadian Man says he was given $149 ticket for singing while driving

Well, that one part is kind of like screaming (Image: YouTube)

So strange it’s probably true: According to CCTV, “On Sept. 27, Taoufik Moalla was on his way to buy a bottle of water, happily singing along to C+C Music Factory’s 1990 song ‘Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)’ when he says he heard a police siren blaring behind him.”

Moalla says four police officers came up to the car, questioned him, and eventually slapped him with fine for screaming in public, though he claims he was just singing.

And finally, here’s how to effectively take notes in a textbook

You’re gonna need more than a highlighter (Image: Pixabay)

Every college student ever has thought about the best place to take notes and most have probably said, “duh, why not do it right here where I’m reading?” Not as easy as it sounds, though.

Brittany Loeffler from Temple University has thought about this, too, but she’s got some good ideas about how to make it work.

Read her all of her tips on textbook note-taking here.
