By Ashley Paskill on March 15, 2018

Spring break is a time for students to relax, unwind, and travel to new places. According to ProjectKnow, Miami, New York City, and Orlando topped the most Instagrammed spring break cities in 2017. However, many students are looking for a unique travel experience. Many of these spring break destinations are beach destinations. Whether you are looking for a different travel experience or just do not like the beach, there are plenty of options for you.

1. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia holds a ton of history. It was the United States’ first capital, after all. From Independence Hall to the location where Alexander Hamilton lived while he was in Philadelphia, there is something for all history buffs to enjoy. However, the arts are alive in the city as well, with a variety of outdoor sculptures, art museums, concerts, and even Broadway touring performances. For those who love science, the Franklin Institute and the Mutter Museums are must-sees.

2. Nashville, Tennessee

The “Music City” is home to music attractions, but it holds even more. If you want to check out the music, must-see attractions include the Grand Ole Opry, the Gallery of Iconic Guitars at Belmont, and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Sports fans will love the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and car lovers can check out the Lane Motor Museum, one of the few car museums in the US to specialize in European cars. For those who love the visual arts, Nashville is home to Cheekwood Estate and Gardens and the David Lusk Gallery.

3. Portland, Oregon

Portland is home to a wide variety of culture and attractions. Lan Su Chinese Garden is open year-round and is home to gardens, walkways, bridges and more. Animal lovers can check out the Oregon Zoo to see more than 2,000 animals from around the world. Science comes to life at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. The Portland Art Museum is perfect for art lovers and Powell’s City of Books is a reader’s heaven, covering an entire city block. Portland also offers tax-free shopping.

4. Boston, Massachusetts

From performing arts, shopping, and food, Boston is the perfect city for a unique spring break experience. For a different view of the city, visitors can take a Segway tour through the city. Boston is also home to Adams National Historical Park, the birthplace homes of former US Presidents John and John Quincy Adams. Music fans can appreciate a Blue Man Group performance and those who love dance performances can take in the elegance of the Boston Ballet.
