5 Tips To Survive Finals Week
Finals week, oh finals week. Every college student’s most feared and dreaded week of the whole semester. Everyone is likely scrambling to finish registering for classes, quickly cramming for upcoming finals, and stressing over everything. While everyone else is freaking out, you’ll be able to get some relief from the crunch week by following these tips. Here are five tips to survive finals week.
Tip #1
Take Breaks When You Study! A common thing for college kids to do is to cram for several hours in a single sitting, I’ve done it many times. Actually, I’d recommend studying for around an hour, then taking a short break. Rinse and repeat until you’re chock full of knowledge! Eventually everyone just becomes numb to what they’re studying and won’t absorb anymore, taking breaks helps to keep you attentive and not quite so brain dead.
Tip #2
Get a massage! I cannot speak for all colleges, but at Texas A&M they have massages available on campus the week leading up to the finals. A massage is awesome, and releases stress. And finals week is the definition of stress.
Tip #3
Go for a run, or go work out, or take a walk, or anything! Doing exercise is a great stress reliever. Grab a few friends and hit the field or go to the gym and play some basketball. Freaking out? Go for a jog.
Tip #4
Create a schedule! If you have three exams coming up, don’t fret! Sit down and write out a schedule for studying. Don’t be in the situation where you wake up and say “I’ll study economics or something I guess…”. Instead, be able to wake up and say, “for one hour it’s economics, then psychology, etc.” Having a schedule will help you to keep the whole situation under control.
Tip #5
Don’t do it alone! Don’t cut yourself off from friends or family as you try to intensively study. Having friends or family around will keep morale up and your stress down. Organize a study group, call your parents, anything! Just don’t do it all on your own.
There you go! Hopefully this will help you keep your nerves down during finals week. Best of luck with your exams!
