How to Enjoy the Sundance Film Festival Despite A Tight Budget
As January has come, so had the yearly Sundance Film Festival. It is time to go to Park City and enjoy the films, the festivities, the celebrity sightings and, of course, the parties. Unfortunately, it is also far from free, what is a college student to do? Use my tips and tricks to make sure you enjoy the whole experience.
Save on Transportation
Want to beat the rising gas prices on the up-hill drive? Catch the $5 UTA Route 902 bus from Salt Lake City to Park City’s Main Street and save yourself at least $15 on gas alone. The bus will also save you the $20 parking fee once you arrived.
Be A Selective Diner
Never eat on Main Street where the meals are the most expensive. If you are on an extremely tight budget, eat before you leave or pack a snack for the road. If you have a more giving budget, but can’t afford a twenty plus dollar plate, Park City has multiple other options.
There are the obvious fast food possibilities like McDonalds, Subway, Taco Bell, Wendy’s and Arby’s. However, there are also less expensive restaurant options as well. I recommend Davanza’s Pizza as a local pizza favorite, El Chubasco is delicious fresh Mexican food with an assortment of salsas and Wasatch Brew Pub and Squatters are sit-down brewery-style cuisine at a reasonable price.
Attend Free Activities
Park City is full of sights, because it is nestled in the mountain terrain. If that isn’t what you revel in, there is also the exciting celebrity sight seeing. Make sure you bring your camera, because you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to get a picture with your arm around celebrities like Jessica Alba, Matthew McConaughey or Alicia Keys, who have already made the Park City appearance this year.
